Councillor Teams Up With Martial Artist To Raise Funds For Life Saving Equipment

Galley Common Tae Kwon-Do instructor Steven Robinson has raised hundreds of pounds to help pay for life saving equipment. Steven, who owns Robinson TKD, ran 100 miles throughout the month of November to raise money for my (Dan Gissane) campaign to install publicly accessible defibrillators around Galley Common, raising over £800 along with his previous donation of £100 a short while ago. Nuneaton martial arts instructor raises hundreds to help save lives Steven Robinson hands over a cheque for £912 to Galley Common Councillor Dan Gissane to help pay for life saving medical equipment The defibrillators alone cost around £1000 each and need to be housed outside in secure cabinets in an easy to access area in case of emergency. The cabinets cost approximately £600 each and need to be installed by a qualified electrician. I have recently received a donation of £300 from the Co-op’s Helping Hearts Award Scheme and have enough money to purchase the two cabinets required. I have since contacted a local supplier of the approved secure cabinets and have ordered two. I’m now in the process of identify potential sites for the two defibrillators and contacting the owners for permission. I would like to thanks Steven Robinson once again for all of his hard work and kind efforts in raising nearly £1000. The money raised will pay for this vital equipment that will hopefully never need to be used but if needed could save someone’s life, and that is priceless. Show your support for Steven by liking the Robinson TKD Facebook Page. I will continue to try to raise funds for more defibrillators in the coming months and years. If you would like to help raise money towards the next defib, or if you would like to pass on a donation, please contact me using the details on this site or through the instant message facility in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Councillor Teams Up With Martial Artist To Raise Funds For Life Saving Equipment

Warwickshire County Councillor Dan Gissane teams up with Tae Kwon-Do instructor to raise hundreds of pounds to help pay for life saving equipment.

Cllr Gissane, who represents Galley Common, has been raising money to pay for life saving defibrillators to place in his local community.

Local martial arist Steven Robinson, owner and instructor at Robinson TKD, got involved in the campaign and recently ran 5 miles each day for a month, raising over £900 towards the equipment.

The defibrillators cost around £1000 each and have to be placed outside inside secure cabinets in an easy to access area in case of emergency. The cabinets cost over £600 each and are accessed by entering a one-off code given by the ambulance service during a 999 call.

Cllr Gissane has contacted several local businesses and organisations to ask for their help in raising funds and was recently successful in gaining a grant of £300 from the Co-op’s Helping Hearts Award Scheme.

Cllr Gissane thanked Steven for his hard work and kind efforts in raising nearly £1000. The money raised will pay for this vital equipment that could save someone’s life.

Having worked for the ambulance service for more than ten years Cllr Gissane knows that access to this equipment can be the difference between life and death and he has vowed to continue to raise funds for more defibrillators in the coming months and years.

If you would like to help raise money towards a defibrillator, or if you would like to pass on a donation, please contact Cllr Dan Gissane via his website at dangissane.co.uk
