Leading Conservative Councillor Receives OBE in Queen’s Birthday Honours

Cllr Izzy Seccombe, the first female leader of Warwickshire County Council, receives an OBE for services to local government, while Joan Bunn receives a British Empire Medal for services to Citizens’ Advice Bureau and the community in Nuneaton.

She said: “I’m amazed and delighted – it’s very humbling. About six weeks ago I had a letter from the Cabinet Office asking if Her Majesty was minded to make an award would I accept it. You sit there for a long time and then you wonder how and why did this letter get here. Questions that I still don’t know the answer to. It is massively exciting.”
