Local Conservative councillors are campaigning to improve road safety around local schools in Rugby.

Warwickshire County Councillor Yousef Dahmash established an online petition with local MP Mark Pawsey last month.

Cllr Yousef Dahmash was joined by fellow Bilton Rugby Borough Councillors Julie A’Barrow and Chris Cade at the recent Bilton Junior School Summer Fayre where they collected signatures and spoke to local residents about road safety initiatives.

Speaking after the Summer Fayre Cllr Dahmash said:

“Road safety is a huge priority for me and I am determined to do all I can to make the areas around schools in my local area safer for children and parents. I would like to thank all of the schools in Bilton for their support with the campaign. I would also like to thank Denise Colledge and Lisa Collins, whose children attend Bilton Junior School, who did so much to help collect signatures at the Summer Fayre.”

The petition can be found online at http://www.markpawsey.org.uk/campaigns/safer-routes-school-campaign.
